The Energy Systems Research Laboratory at Florida International University was proud to host the 24th IEEE Design Methodologies Conference (DMC) 2023 from September 24-26 in Miami, Florida. As the organizers of this premier event, we brought together over 300 leading researchers and practitioners in the exciting field of design automation for power electronics.

DMC 2023 built on the IEEE Power Electronics Society’s efforts to provide an impactful platform for advancements in design methodologies. With artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cyber-physical systems transforming the landscape, this conference offered a unique opportunity to shape the future.

Our organizing committee worked for planning a dynamic program for DMC 2023. Some highlights included:

• 4 respected keynote speakers from GE Aviation, the US Navy, and academia presenting their visionary work on topics like SiC devices, power electronics building blocks, and real-time simulation.
• A robust technical program with over many papers on the newest innovations in research and technology. Sessions covered EMI, control, optimization, reliability, and cutting-edge applications.
•  In-depth tutorials led by experts from North Carolina State University, Florida International University, and other institutions on heterogeneity, packaging, automation, security, and more.
• An exhibition of technologies from sponsors including AAU Energy and academic labs developing advanced power electronics capabilities.
• Opportunities for networking, mentoring, and fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration between participants across industry, government, and academia.
• Poster sessions, receptions, and social outings that facilitated meaningful connections between attendees.

We were thrilled to host over 100 brilliant researchers, engineers, and students from around the world for this year’s conference. The community left energized and inspired by the exchange of ideas, findings, and perspectives on the future of power electronics design. FIU’s Energy Systems Research Laboratory thanks IEEE PELS for the opportunity to organize this impactful event. We hope DMC 2023 offered an unforgettable experience for attendees and look forward to reconvening this community again soon.
