Communication Layer on Test Bed

The goal of the communication is to transfer information fast and correctly within the system, locally or globally to create the data for different purposes such as protection, control, monitoring, estimation, prediction, optimization etc. In order to have optimized power system, usually a control center collect information of current situation, and analyze the information for having an economic, reliable, stable power system and this cannot be possible unless there will be a proper way of collecting information, and sending commands properly to local systems. By using new technologies such as PMU (Phasor Measurement Unit) and implementing new ideas, investments and science, modern infrastructure of power system is changing gradually. Current and voltage synchrophasors can be used to observe the state of system, and improve the indices of reliability, stability and in one word performance. This cannot be accomplished unless the communication layer provides the information at the point of need.
