Biography Hossam Hussein received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Florida International University (FIU) in August 2025. His research focuses on resilient energy systems powered by renewable resources, leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twins. He earned a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude, ranked 3rd among 500 graduates) in 2011 and an M.Sc. in 2018 from Helwan University, Egypt, as well as a second M.Sc. from FIU in 2024. With more than a decade of academic and industrial experience, he has authored over 25 publications in high-impact journals and leading international conferences.

Hossam is currently working as a Transmission Planning Consultant at 1898 & Co., the business, technology, and security consulting arm of Burns & McDonnell. His professional work focuses on transmission planning studies, grid modernization, renewable energy integration, and power system resilience.

His contributions have been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the IEEE GreenTech 2023 Best Paper Award (3rd Place), the 2022 IEEE PES-MathWorks Ideathon Best Project Prize, and the FIU ECE Ph.D. First Author Paper Incentive Award (2024). He has also received numerous competitive grants and fellowships, including the 2024 IEEE AMTGP Grant, the 2024 IEEE EEEIC Travel Grant, Graduate & Professional Student Committee (GPSC) Grants (July 2023 and October 2024), and the FIU Dissertation Year Fellowship (Spring 2025).

In addition to his research accomplishments, Hossam is actively involved in professional and academic leadership. He has held leadership positions within IEEE and Sigma Xi and served as a Graduate Senator at FIU.
