Biography | Mahmoud S. Abdelrahman (Graduate Student Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt, in 2007 and 2014, respectively. He has been a Teaching and a Research Assistant at Helwan University since 2008. He is currently a doctoral candidate pursuing a Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Florida International University, Miami, FL, USA. His research interests include Smart grid protection and control, cyber-physical energy systems security, edge computing in power systems, and digital twin. Mahmoud has published and presented his academic work at prestigious journals and top-tier IEEE conferences. He also supports proposal preparation and presentations at program reviews for funded research projects. With his hands-on experience in industrial applications, Mahmoud has significantly participated in improving the functions of the Energy Systems Research Laboratory’s smart grid testbed by implementing commercial products using industrial-grade commercial devices from different vendors such as ABB and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.
