Biography
Hossam Hussein, a Ph.D. candidate at Florida International University (FIU), specializes in resilient energy systems powered by renewable resources, employing advanced technologies such as AI and digital twins. He earned a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude, ranking 3rd out of 500) in 2011 and an M.Sc. in 2018 from Helwan University, Egypt, as well as a second M.Sc. from FIU in 2024. With over a decade of academic and industrial experience, he has authored more than 25 publications in high-impact journals and prestigious conferences.
Hossam’s work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the IEEE GreenTech 2023 Best Paper Award (3rd place), the 2022 IEEE PES-MathWorks Ideathon Best Project Prize, and the FIU ECE Ph.D. First Author Paper Incentive Award (2024). He is also the recipient of prestigious grants, such as the 2024 IEEE AMTGP grant, the 2024 IEEE EEEIC travel grant, Graduate & Professional Student Committee (GPSC) Grants (July 2023 and October 2024), and the FIU Dissertation Year Fellowship (Spring 2025).
In addition to his research achievements, Hossam is an active leader within professional organizations, holding roles in IEEE and Sigma Xi, and serving as a Graduate Senator at FIU.
