Professor Mohammed is the Associate Dean of Research at FIU College of Engineering and Computing and is the Director of the Energy Systems Research Laboratory.

Professor Mohammed is world renowned leader in Power Systems and Low Frequency Computational Electromagnetics and Design Optimization. He has current interest in Energy Cyber Physical Systems and Smart Grid Communication Infrastructure. He has particular interest in Power Electronics for Electric Drives and Transportation Electrification.

Professor Mohammed has published more than 750 articles in journals, conference proceedings, books and book chapters receiving high levels of citations. Additionally, Professor Mohammed has secured more $25M in research funding from Federal, Research and Industrial Organization.

Professor Mohammed is a Fellow of IEEE and is a Fellow of the Applied Computational Electromagnetic Society. He is the recipient of the 2012 IEEE PES Cyril Vienott Electromechanical Energy Conversion Award. He also received the Excellence in Research award from FIU in 2012 and the 2017 Excellence in Doctoral Mentorship Award.
