The Outstanding Doctoral Graduate is selected through a college wide competition. This award recognizes a student’s academic EXCELLENCY and EXEMPLARY SERVICE to his or her department while pursuing the doctoral degree.
Mr. Ricardo de Azevedo receive the Outstanding MS Graduate Award during the Graduation Ceremony held at FIU, Spring, 2016.
Mr. Ricardo de Azevedo has been an exceptional Master’s students ever since he started degree in 2014. Under the guidance of Dr Osama. A. Mohammed and taking most of his courses, Ricardo has excelled in his class wok with a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average. Choosing the thesis option to graduate, he took the time and dedication to perform meaningful research for our Smart Grid Test-Bed and Energy Systems Research Laboratory.
Along the way he has published several papers, with a final submission of his research to the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, one of the most prestigious journals in Electrical Engineering. His research also continues to be useful as current doctorate students are using his developments to create new solutions for different problems on the electrical grid.
Ricardo also has the initiative to participate in competitions such as the FIU GSA W 2016 Scholarly Forum, in which he was ranked First place among the Electrical Engineering Oral Presentations. He had won a graduate Scholarship from the student Government Association for his academic excellence and is active in pursuing new oppertunities like being selected as a Florida Fellow for Spark Clean Energy, a nonprofit organization funded by the Department of Energy to promote Clean Energy Entrepreneurship.
